LBI Panzone's History

Panzone's Pizza opened in a small building on the corner of 11th street and the boulevard in Beach Haven on May 13, 1980. The previous summer the building had been an ice cream store. The small building soon had a fresh coat of bright yellow paint and green trim. Soon after pizza ovens and a grill were moved in, Panzone's quickly became a popular spot for pizzas, huge steaks, sandwiches, and hoagies. It was the place to go for late night munchies, as it was opened until 3 am every night and 4 am on the weekends. Guests ordered their food through our takeout window and then dined at the picnic tables outside.

By 1987 Panzone's was ready to expand to a full service restaurant, Panzone's Pizza & Pasta opened up right next door for Memorial Day weekend in 1987. The original Panzone's Pizza became known as 'The Slice Shop' and it remained open serving pizza and Ralph's water ice in a variety of flavors. In 1998 the Slice Shop was torn down to make way for an expansion to Panzone's Pizza & Pasta.

In May of 2005, Panzone's celebrated its twenty fifth year serving Long Beach Island's favorite pizza!

There is also another location on LBI- Panzone's Pizza in Surf City opened in 1984 and is open year round.
